Guide to Argassi

'For a relatively small resort, Argassi is surprisingly varied – listing watersports, family fun, traditional tavernas and trendy cocktail bars among its attractions.'

Set between the sea and pine-scented hillsides, Argassi is 3 miles southeast of Zante (Zante) town – conveniently close for shopping forays. The village backs a narrow strip of sandy and pebble beach. If you put the emphasis on sea rather than sand, you'll love it here. There's a good range of watersports and fun rides keeping things fast and furious. But if you prefer a more sedate approach, you'll be relieved to hear this is one of the calmer bays - perfect for a gentle float. Away from the water, it's the main street that really spells out Argassi's character. There's always a bit of a buzz here. The eateries range from Greek tavernas to cheap and cheerful cafe bars. Plus there's also Chinese and Indian specialities and a couple of good restaurants to really get those tastebuds tingling. Live music, karaoke bars and a couple of discos keep the beehive buzz going after lights-out. But it's by no means a big noise and neon scene. The village gets quieter as it climbs the slopes, so it's easily possible to find a sleepy spot that's an easy stroll from the centre. There's a little of everything here.
