For starters, the rooms are kitted out in shades of cream and terracotta. They come with marble floors and lots of blond wood and wicker-work furniture. And the superior rooms have nice touches like cosy carpets, bath robes and a hi-fi. Better still, every room comes with a balcony or garden terrace, so you can really make the most of those views. As lovely as the rooms are though, it's the hotel's public areas that steal the limelight. The lobby has a colossal domed-glass ceiling and a tropical garden centrepiece that comes complete with a waterfall. And the lounge bar is filled with cosy cream sofas and French-style salon chairs dressed in zebra stripes – think Louis XIV meets Laura Ashley. Factor in a fantastic buffet restaurant, Thomson Gold entertainment and a lagoon-style pool, and it's easy to see why customers come back year after year.

This hotel is tops. Upgrade to All Inclusive if you can it cost us 20 euros per day each (although this was a special offer at the time) and was well worth the extra. It added about #200 to the cost of our holiday but was well worth it. The hotel is... more on this review
