Villa Calypso

With countryside in every direction, you'll really feel like you're at the end of the line at the Calypso. Peaceful and picturesque, this butter-coloured villa is a striking contrast against its emerald-green surroundings. Sat on a hilltop, the panoramas from here are truly breathtaking. But that's not to say you're totally off the beaten track. If it's golden sands you're after, they're just a five minute drive away and there are a good selection of tavernas here, too. And Chania, with its bustling waterfront and quaint shops and restaurants is about the same distance, too. No doubt your main priority though, is to get away from the crowds and unwind.
Start as you mean to go on by the lagoon-shaped pool. Sitting in a delightfully tranquil spot, it's sunk into a pretty patio that's sprinkled with terracotta pots. And when you're not cooling off in the sparkling waters, there are plenty of ways to relax here. Recline back on one of the sun loungers. Or sit in the shade on the terrace, which is under an elegant archway and enjoy a delicious al fresco lunch. And when you want to stretch your legs, follow the sun-dappled footpaths through the cushiony-green hills.
When the midday heat gets too much, step inside the villa. With whitewashed walls, wood beamed ceilings and tiled flooring throughout, it's an authentic Greek delight. Furnished simply yet stylishly, it's welcoming and has bags of character. Designed in an open-plan layout, you'll find a cosy living area with feature stone fireplace. A dining table with seating for six. And from here, a stone archway leads through to the fitted kitchen. There are also three restful bedrooms with traditional furnishings and a lovely mosaic-tiled bathroom with a corner bath. A refined, yet rustic hideaway - the Calypso is the perfect place to escape from it all.
