Although Barbados' Dover Beach doesn't have much in common with our version, you can see why it might have been given its name. Like Dover's cliffs, the sands here are brilliant white. On the food front, meanwhile, restaurant and cafe menus tempt you with dishes from all corners of the globe, from Italian to Caribbean. For even more buzz, tread the rest of the St Lawrence Gap strip. Lined with upbeat eateries, duty-free shops and nightclubs, it's the kind of place where there's never a dull moment. And for a retail fix, set your sights on the nearby Chattel House shopping village, which is stacked with clothes, jewellery and Bajan gifts.
